Box Organizer for CMON's Massive Darkness 2 board game.
It is able to store all cards and tokens arriving with Massive Darkness 2 Gameplay All-In pledge. In other words it contains those from these
- Core Game
- Darkbringer Pack
- Massive Darkness 1 Upgrade Pack
- Demon Dragon
- Rainbow Crossing
- War of Souls
- Four Horsemen
- Gates of Hell
- Monks & Necromancers vs. Paragon
- Bards & Tinkerers vs. Metal Angel
- Druids vs. Belzebub
I do not have the Zombicide Crossover, so I have no idea how many cards that has or if those fits (most likely not, surely not sleeved). Obviously, the minis have to move someplace else, I will address that problem right next after this organizer.
The card trays are designed to be "plug-and-play", you can grab them from the box and place them on the table. Both card holder are tiered, one of them is having moving parts so that you can open and close them (similary to my 7th Continent box organizer)
Thickness: Cards with thin sleeves should all fit. See pictures below, sleeves are SWAN premium (thicker than penny sleeves, thinner than those 120 micron super thick sleeves). Premium sleeve thickness vary greatly, and the thicker the sleeves, the lower the chance everything can be squeezed.
My design goal here was to find the sweet spot between "sleeving everything" and "improved setup time + usability during gameplay". So as a thumb rule I designed these trays/displays to have twice as much space as the "naked" cards require. Exception to this rule: small sized decks of Epic Treasures, Campaign Cards and Draconinan Skills. To resolve this I created a "rescue tray", which can store cards that you do not want in the card display. With this solution everyone should be able to reach a reasonable compromise based on their exact sleeves.
Width: Small cards are 41 mm wide. Space available for these cards is 44.5 mm. Hence, such sleeves are required which are precisely the size they state (41.5 is advertised usually) and not, say, 4-5 mm wider. Even the problem of the wider sleeves can be worked around by leaving out some of the small card separators in the tray during assembly. I will present this alternative in the assembly instruction.
Due to war in Ukraine we had to switch from plywood to MDF. It is locally available material, looks slightly less shiny than the plywood on the pictures. On the flip side, this material is significantly cheaper, led to reduced price.
I need phone number and email address for FEDEX shipping. Please enter them during the checkout.
Due to the high amount of buyer options (color, fabric, variants, etc), I always manufacture items on demand, which takes roughly 2 weeks. Fedex shipping usually is 4-6 days. The item ships from Hungary, Europe. Depending on destination country, custom fees may apply.
Overall the organizer is working wonderfully.
I managed to get the all in + crossover + all of zombicide in the main box now. (No sleeves, but it fits otherwise).
Lots of items to store and this system makes things much easier. The box for storing cards with magnets is clever and very practical. Good communication with the seller, you can go for it! Congratulations to him for all his achievements.
Easy to assemble, and installing the game becomes very easy and done in a minute! Highly recommended!
This insert is great to size down the number of boxes needed to play the game. It also helps enormously to get the game to the table. I manage to set up a game in less than 10 minutes which was utterly impossible previously.
Things to note before buying:
-the assembly process is a bit time consuming and you will have to dry-fit the pieces before glueing. For me it was a fun process but I can see others be put off by it.
-this insert and the follow up miniature inserts are designed for MD2 only. There is no room for MD1 or the zombicide crossover.
-this insert will take up all of the core box. The miniatures and tiles will have to be stored elsewhere.
All in all I'm very happy with the insert and would totally recommend it!
Another very clever design, this organizer will tackle all of the tokens, class components and sleeved cards minus the Zombicide crossover cards. It's a bit of a project to assemble, dry fitting before gluing is crucial, especially for the card holder with moving parts. It's very easy to misalign the four card trays with the side piece, making it unable to move, so take assembly carefully.
Also, even with the minis boxes, you will still need at least 1 extra box to hold everything. The big one is the tiles which definitely will not fit in the main box with the organizer. I used the Darkbringer box. Utilizing the spacers from the core box the cards were originally shipped in to keep the tiles in place, I was able to neatly fit the tiles, manuals, spare dice, Zombicide Crossover cards and the 3d Bridges (the rest of the 3d scenery fits nicely in the spare tray in the Heroes & Mobs box) and still have a bit left over for odds and ends.
Very happy with the organizer so far. It's been very sturdy after construction, and having the cards and tokens organized and ready to go makes getting the game going a lot easier.
